The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a six-week summer instructional program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year.
Rising sophomores and juniors are nominated in a specific instructional area in which their abilities, aptitudes, and interests lie.   Transcripts of grades, records, nomination forms, endorsements, and other pertinent information are submitted to substantiate the nominations.
Students are nominated at the school level and must complete applications and portfolios meeting the criteria established by the GHP board.  Then students interview and/or audition at the county level.  Each county has a quota for nominations it may send on to the state level.
At the state level, our students will compete against students from across the state for the limited number of spots in each area of nomination.
Grayson students have participated in GHP every summer since we opened in August 2000.
